Not Forgotten Memories related, but I posted a review on the popular indie game: Dungeon Defenders!
V0.12 Changelog - Quest Journal, Heafret, and more!
CHARACTERS
- Some characters now start with a subclass. I finally found a way to script this, as it was meant to be this way from the beginning.
Wilfhilda: Dragonkin + Mage,
Macen: Guardian + ManipulatorGarth: Vlene + Guardian
Amena: Vlene + Caller
Foster: Vlene + ThiefRohe: Healer + Mage
- Wilfhilda now gains a second overdrive if she chooses to leave Bahum, instead of returning to the castle. This allows her to not gimp herself so hard by choosing not to have Macen. Since this option disables her from entering Bahum City again, she cannot take a ship to Lampara to recruit Lars. This overdrive is significantly stronger than her original one, and so should give her a better fighting chance.
MAPPING
- Added the house in Bahum: Forest Route
- Added the additional maps for Heafret
- Re-made and added additional maps in Heafret for Garth’s introduction.
- Added various shops in Lampara.
MONSTERS
- Nerfed most of the monsters… again. I will get good at balancing one of these days.
MUSIC
- Additional music has been added. Castle Bahum, Amena’s Theme, For the Fallen and Gymnopedie No 1. Thanks to Kevin MacLeod for composing them.
QUESTS
- Re-made and added additional maps in Heafret for Garth’s introduction.
- Added two sidequests in Longing for a Princess
- Added two sidequests in The Trean Leader
SCENES
- Fixed some of the spellings errors
- Added faces to the main characters (Wilfy, Macen, Lars, Foster, Garth, Amena) during their scenes.
- Minor dialogue changes in Heafret
SYSTEM
- Buffed the parameter distribution for Level Up
- Characters now ‘revive’ with 1HP after battle, if they finish the battle with 0HP.
- Quest Journal has been added. Accessible on the menu, or by pressing L (Q on the keyboard).
- You can now save by pressing R (W on the keyboard).
My computer is having some troubles at the moment, often resulting in a blue screen saying “memory dump”. Thankfully I’m getting a new computer soon.
I thought it would be a good thing to note the importance of backing up data. My computer crashed while I was in the middle of RPGMaker. When I logged back on, and tried to open it, it turned out it was corrupt. Thankfully, I was able to recover the graphics and scripts which I had added, however, I lost all my mapping and eventing I did.
Good thing I made a backup of the project two days ago, though. So I pretty much dodged a bullet there. Remember: back up all your work! You never know what might happen!
EDIT: Download is now available! Thank you for all the feedback, hopefully some of these changes will allow the game to be more fun, thanks to you guys.

I thought I’d do some more writing.
The story is centred around three main characters, the same ones I listed in my previous post.
Princess Wilfhilda de Bahum, the second child of the King of Bahum, is a feisty lady, who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She knows how to handle a blade, and is able to cast spells with ease. As a dragonkin, a child of dragons, she is stronger than the normal human. She isn’t happy with living her life in the castle. She’s never left the castle district, as the King deems it too unsafe for his children to leave. There are many people in Bahum who still hold grudges against the Royal Family in regards to the eradication of the Dragons, especially outside the royal city.
Rohe Ashcroft, a Healer of Light, is a Genganian orphan, brought up in Thigl. When it was found she was a manipulator of magical-essence, she was taken to the Grand Church in Aurora, and made to become a Healer. She excelled in the art of Healing, and enjoyed the gift that she was given, even if Thiglians were suspicious of magic. She found it difficult being a Genganian in Thigl, as the Thiglians hold prejudice as Gengaia, as it does not worship Light. At the age of 16, Rohe went on her pilgrimage to the land of Phoen, where she travelled around the country, helping those in need. A few days before her 18th birthday, Rohe spent the night at a beach, strolling along the shores. She found Garth Adaway and Foster Blewitt along the shore, and ended up missing her return ship to Thigl, so she had time to Heal them back to health.
Garth Adaway, the leader of the lower class resistant group ‘Trean’, spends the majority of his time with Foster and Amena Blewitt. They plan to bring equality and safety to the classes in Heafret, but there is fighting inside the group. Foster and Garth prefer more direct action, even if that means assaulting and attacking the Uppers, while Amena believes more peaceful approaches can show that the Lowies are not the savages the Uppers think they are.
In the game, the characters do not have a strict class that they have to stick to, so Rohe can potentially be the dual-sword-wielding DPS character if that’s what she trains in. However, the characters are suited to a particular class that resembles them. Rohe is obviously meant to be a Healer (but can also do well as a support/attack mage). Garth is a fighter, but can also be a good geomancer, who focuses on earth. Wilfhilda can be either a fighter and/or a mage, and excels at both.
There are, of course, numerous other support characters. Wilfhilda is followed by her personal guard: Macen Lambert, and meets up with her possible fiance: Lord Bowen. Rohe meets the rogue magician Eileen, who is also investigating the cult of D herself. Garth has Foster and Amena. The Summoner Kaira, the Healer Noah, and the Beaxoren Hunter Axoria also make their appearances.
Forgotten Memories was a name I created years ago - a nice name that worked well enough for one of the games I created in RPG Maker 2000. I’ve been a big fan of Enterbrain and their RPG Makers, ever since I saw my brother use RM’97. I’m not good at coding, and my art isn’t great, but I do love J-RPGs, and have always wanted to make one myself.
The original Forgotten Memories is too old for me to remember. It had many reincarnations, all using the same undeveloped characters and plot. I forgive myself for some of those atrocities I created, I was young and it was a hobby I did after I completed my homework, and had no real game to play.
